Congratulations to Sensei Lisa
Mountain Judo Instructor Awarded National Honor
Sensei Lisa Guerrero was recognized as the top national female master’s judo player. This award was given to her at a clinic in Claremont on Saturday March 5th. The United States Judo Association recognizes annually the top judo players in the nation in a variety of categories. Sensei Guerrero earned the honor of Masters Competitor of the Year for 2004. This award is given to the top judo player in the thirty years old and over category. Sensei Guerrero won 2 gold medals at the United States National Championships in 2004. She played in the women’s 40-44 year old 78 kilo, and open weight divisions.
2003 National coach of the year Gary Goltz presented the award. Also honored at this time was Rhonda Rousey of Venice California. Rhonda was awarded the 2004 Senior Athlete of the Year. After winning the US National championships, and the Pan American games she played in the Athens Olympics finishing 7th.
